An accident can happen to anyone… The Flying Doctor has to be ready 24/7.

With a tax-deductible gift before 30 June, you could help fill the stockroom at the new Mount Isa Base opening soon – with life-saving medical equipment.

With your help, RFDS crews will be ready to fly out to people like Frank when their life is on the line.

The last thing Frank remembers is the helicopter spinning out of control after hitting powerlines. He had lost consciousness before he hit the ground.

Frank came to in the remains of the cockpit as a team member raced to call the Flying Doctor. Within 15 minutes, an RFDS crew was in the sky, equipped with life-saving equipment.

Frank had a broken leg. He was in agony. But the RFDS crew was able to scan his leg with an ultrasound and find the exact point to inject a nerve-blocker and numb the excruciating pain.

Then, they were able to safely move him onto a stretcher and start the journey to Townsville Hospital for emergency surgery.

Whether you’re living and working out here, or travelling through, you never know when you’re going to need the Flying Doctor,”

Frank Hoare
